Goring Gap and West Tarring Allotments
An early morning visit to Goring Gap produced a 2cy Little Gull which struggled west into the wind over the beach before pitching down, but it then mysteriously vanished. Other observations included two Willow Warblers, at least four Mediterranean Gulls and 12 Sandwich Terns, 21 Sanderlings, 11 Turnstones, two Lesser Black-backed Gulls, two Gannets, three Oystercatchers, three Blackcaps and two Chiffchaffs. Close encounters were had with Stock Dove and Jay in the Plantation.

West Worthing, Goring Gap and West Tarring Allotments
Over the garden this morning were 33 Meadow Pipits and three Linnets, while a Chiffchaff was new in and Blackcap was in song. A quick look off the beach revealed just two Gannets and a Great Crested Grebe.
Ingrid and I did a circuit of Goring Gap, where Firecrest and Treecreeper were in song. 13 Meadow Pipits and four Linnets were noted, along with three Skylarks, a Sanderling, three Turnstones, a Mallard and a pair of Pheasants.
West Tarring Allotments produced a male Sparrowhawk and nice views of some smart-looking Wall Lizards.

Ferring Rife, Patching and West Tarring
On my way through Ferring my first Sparrowhawk of the year flew over the car. Two Snipe, a Water Rail, a Grey Heron, a Redwing, a Reed Bunting, a 2cy male Kestrel, a Grey Wagtail, 12 Skylarks, a singing Coal Tit, three Goldcrests and 17 Moorhens were logged during a morning walk at Ferring Rife.
The 'Northern Treecreeper' was still along the public footpath by the east side of The World's End pub, where George and I found a 'Siberian Chiffchaff' where the path opens out to the fields. Also a Firecrest still on the south side of the road, plus two Bullfinches, a Yellowhammer and a Meadow Pipit. A Great Crested Grebe was on the pond - my first water bird there beside a brief Mallard the other day!
