West Worthing, Goring Gap and Ferring Rife

Birding at home first thing was quiet again, with a Blackcap, a Linnet and two Lesser Black-backed Gulls the best on offer during breakfast.

Highlights at Goring Gap included 19 Whimbrel east, two Shovelers on the sea and two Mediterranean Gulls west. 38 Turnstones and two Oystercatchers were on the beach.

A walk along Ferring Rife produced a Reed Bunting, seven Swallows, a Whitethroat, a Grey Heron, a Sparrowhawk and 17 Mallards (including broods of three and 11 young).
