I met up with Phil W for a jaunt to sunny Rainham Marshes, walking along the Thames and back to the centre for cream tea and a quick explore on the southern path of the reserve before heading back. The high point of the visit was towards the end when we spotted an adult
Spoonbill circling above us in the company of two
Hobbies and a
Peregrine! The Spoonie was one of two which have been seen on the reserve recently. An additional
Hobby, four
Common Terns, a pair of
Marsh Harriers and two
Bearded Reedlings were the cream of the other birds noted, and young
Shelducks were a duckling year tick for me.
