Pulborough Brooks RSPB

This afternoon I popped up to Pulborough, in the hope that some waders might have been dropped in by the drizzle. There was nothing particularly unusual on offer but the North Brooks held a good variety of birds and it was nice to properly catch up with Matt Phelps at the Hanger Viewpoint. As I completed the circuit, the drizzle gave way to a very still and peaceful early evening. Highlights included a juvenile Peregrine terrorising Black-headed Gulls, three Green Sandpipers, five Avocets, 80 Black-tailed Godwits (mostly in fine summer plumage), a family of Redshanks, a Wigeon, a Shoveler, a handful of Swallows and Sand Martins, a Stonechat, a Yellowhammer and four Bullfinches (including a juvenile).
