I started the day at Canons Farm, with only a quick whizz around the core section to make time for looking through the gulls at Beddington later on. It was worthwhile, with three
Cormorants heading north being good value this early in the year. A
Little Owl was showing, a
Grey Heron also flew over and the number of juvenile
Common Buzzards on site had increased to four.
Two hours looking through the gulls on the main lake at Beddington with Peter A and Dave S was rewarded with three
Caspian Gulls (first-winter, second-winter and adult) and two
Yellow-legged Gulls (second-winter and near-adult). A high-flying
Shelduck was also notable and singles of both
Cetti's Warbler and
Water Rail were vocal.
